Course Information

The aim of this course is to explore communication through the use of digital media.

In Level 3 Digital Technology you will learn how to plan, design and implement large scale Web or Print media solutions using software tools (programs) for effective communication.

Digital Technologies applications and technologies taught will depend on students choice of project. Compulsory topics taught include:

  • Current Issues in Digital Technologies.
  • Project Management: Software Tools and techniques needed to manage large projects
  • Information Management: Collecting, Analysing and Presenting Information using advanced features of word processor and spreadsheet applications.

Students choice of major project area's could include either:

  • Web Media: Website Design and Development (HTML/CSS) and use of PHP / MySQL to create dynamic database driven websites.
  • Print Media: Graphic Design and Layout for Print using Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Programming: Computer Science and Programming, the fundamentals of Object Orientated Programming languages.

Y13 - Digital Technology Assessment

This course aims to offer a programme of study covering both theoretical and practical components of Digital technologies. The course provides the opportunity to gain 20 credits at level 3.

Course Cost
$20 to cover paper and printing.

Students may need to provide their own specialist materials such as special paper or printing media.

Requirements for Scholarship

To gain entry into Level 3 Scholarship students must plan to complete their major project in the final weeks of term 3, in order to prepare a portfolio of work necessary to meet requirements.
